Flexibility in Lesson Planning👩🏻‍🏫.

 Hello, welcome once again!🤩🤗

This week, our class was a little bit different because we had some special visitors, but we of course still had our topic of the week that was about... Flexibility in Lesson Planning👩🏻‍🏫.

But first, let me tell you about our visitors haha😅😅😅.

At the beginning of our class, teacher Brendaly asked us to help out some students of our major that are about to graduate. They had kind of like a small practice for us, where we had to do sight translation and then answer a questionnaire👀. Honestly, I was nervous at the beginning because it had been a long time since I had done that, but to my surprise, it was really easy!🥳

Then, we had the visit of Regina Blanco, who is an interpreter and translator with many years of experience😳. She gave us a talk about the interpreting field, the equipment, how much we should charge to clients and many more interesting and important tips! I have had the opportunity to start working in the interpreting field thanks to Regina🤩, her and I have worked in several interpretation events together, so she had already explained all of this to me before, but I think it was really good that she shared it with my classmates because most of them didn't have a clue about all of this.

Once Regina finished, we only had a few minutes for our class left😟, but teacher Orlando talked about why was it important to have some flexibility in lesson planning, and actually, this class was a good example of that because the teacher had to be very flexible due to the visitors that we had😅.

He also explained the term "class mortality" which refers to when there are not many students in the classroom. It was really interesting because I didn't know that a term for that existed. He explained what to do in that kind of situations because you can't leave the students that were present without a class.

Another important thing when planning a class is to know what to do according to the skills you will work with, and here is a list of objectives that can help:

Objectives for productive skills

  • Time-bound.
  • Specific.
  • Results - focused / oriented.
  • Measurable.
  • Achiavable.
Objectives for receptive skills
  • Mention the type of cromprehension (listening or reading)
  • Name of the material to use.
  • How will you make sure the task was done.
This are some important things that you need to consider👆🏼. And also you need to remember to keep it creative for the students. When it comes to the warm-up or wrap-up, you can do simple yet effective activities🤌🏼.

And well, this will be all for today. I know it was a short explanation about the topic but as I said, we had only a few minutes left. But make sure to be here in a few days to know more about our class! Byeeeee👋🏻💛.
